Museums, sites around Attica to stay open for Sunday’s full moon
Many of the Greek capital’s museums and archaeological sites will be open to the public tomorrow night in celebration of the August full moon, the biggest of the year.
The Acropolis Museum will stay open until midnight as the Hellenic Air Force Band performs music from films and by Greek composers in the courtyard next to the entrance. Admission to the concert and the museum premises is free of charge after 9 p.m.
There will also be free concerts in the garden of the Numismatic Museum, at the site of Ancient Eleusis and at the Archaeological Museum of Vravrona, east of Athens.
Classical pieces inspired by the work of Sophocles, Shakespeare, Lorca and other celebrated writers will be performed at the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio, while there will also be a concert on the Averoff Warship Museum at Flisvos Marina in Palaio Faliro on Athens’s southern coast.
