Second man held over double murder in Mani

A second man is being held in connection to the double murder in Mani, police revealed on Thursday morning.

An 18-year-old man gave himself in to police in Kalamata overnight several hours after a 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of taking part in the murder of 26-year-old Constantinos Sgouros and 25-year-old Yiannis Kommatis, whose bodies were found in a ravine on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the 18-year-old admitted being involved in the shooting of the two men.

It appears that murders were prompted by the failure of the two victims to procure some 800 euros’ worth of steroids that the two 19-year-olds are alleged to have ordered, prompting an argument that led to the shootings.

Kommatis and Sgouros were both keen bodybuilders and photos showed that they had numerous tattoos, including swastikas and Russian mafia symbols.
