Cleaning firm in IKA scam

An investigation by the Financial Police has revealed that a cleaning firm which had contracts to provide staff to clean public buildings and some embassies in Athens was found to be part of a scam to avoid paying hundreds of thousands of euros in social security contributions.

Kathimerini has learned that the owners of the cleaning firm, as well as the owners of a company with more than 20 gyms around Greece, created a series of bogus firms as part of an elaborate ploy to dodge contributions to the country’s main social security organization, IKA. It is estimated that they owed a combined total of some 1.5 million euros in unpaid contributions.
