Venizelos invites Simitis and Papandreou to PASOK 40th anniversary event
PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos has extended an invitation to former party chiefs Costas Simitis and George Papandreou to take part in an event to mark the party’s 40th anniversary on September 3.
According to sources, Venizelos e-mailed both ex-prime ministers to inform them that they would be welcome at the event, to be held at the Zappeio Hall.
There had been fears that Papandreou’s decision to hold a separate event, also at Zappeio, would have rekindled tension within the party. However, sources close to Venizelos said the exhibition being organized by the Andreas Papandreou Institute at Zappeio from September 1 to 7 should be considered complimentary to the event the party itself will host.
