The City of Athens is introducing a new initiative, “Meet the Mayor,” Mayor Giorgos Kaminis announced on Wednesday.
Kaminis told Mega TV that the initiative would involve him meeting with private parties, groups, associations and other bodies during scheduled appointments twice a month. The meetings, Kaminis noted, are aimed at informing citizens of what local authorities can or can’t do with regard to certain issues.
“Citizens want to meet the mayor,” said Kaminis. “Given that the mayor can’t always be in each and every neighborhood, let the neighborhoods come to City Hall.”
He also suggested that he would be willing to cooperate with Gavriil Sakellaridis, his leftist challenger in the May elections.
