Athens private college closed over 20 mln euros in IKA debts

Education Minister Andreas Loverdos (photo) on Tuesday announced the closure of Domi, a private college in Athens, due to pending debts to the Social Security Foundation (IKA) totaling some 20 million euros.

Loverdos confirmed the closure of the college at a joint press conference with IKA Governor Rovertos Spyropoulos, according to whom private colleges owe a total of 140 million euros to the foundation.

Loverdos said that operating licenses will not be renewed henceforth unless colleges have made good on their dues to IKA though payment plans could be offered to those who have appealed for help in honoring their social security debts.
