Defunct Alter TV to be investigated for fraud
A judicial investigation has been launched into alleged fraud by the now defunct Alter TV channel.
It emerged on Friday that a prosecutor has asked for a probe into 8 million euros of transactions between the TV station, which stopped broadcasting in 2011, and several firms because of suspicions that bogus invoices were used.
Since its closure, Alter has been sued by more than 200 former employees and its owner, Giorgos Kouris, has gone on trial for alleged tax evasion.
