Soccer fan in critical condition after Sunday clash to be transferred to Athens

A 46-year-old-man who was in critical condition Monday after fans of two rival soccer teams clashed in Iraklio, Crete, the previous day, was expected to be transferred to Athens on Monday to undergo a life-saving procedure.

The 46-year-old suffered a brain aneurism when fans of the two rival clubs came to blows in the stands during the opening match of the third division league between clubs Irodotou and Ethnikos Piraeus.

Police in Nea Alikarnassos in Iraklio have arrested a 27-year-old man over the incident.
