Thessaloniki woman arrested for cashing in dead aunt’s pension

A 64-year-old woman was arrested in the Langada suburb of Thessaloniki on Tuesday, on suspicion that she had been cashing in the pension of a dead aunt for six years.

The unnamed woman, who faces fraud charges, is said to have cashed in more than 33,000 euros from 2006 to 2012 from her aunt’s bank account, of which she was a co-beneficiary, from pension payments that continued to be credited to the deceased woman after failing to register her elderly relative’s death with the authorities.
