Greek cyber crimes unit nets 8 industrial espionage suspects

Members of the police’s cyber crimes squad on Thursday detained five Greeks and three foreign nationals on charges of industrial espionage after the director of a company manufacturing agricultural vehicles alleged that the eight copied the firm’s blueprints for patented spare parts and replacements and sold them.

According to the claims by the head of the company, which is based in northern Greece, the suspects copied the blueprints onto removable hard drives, deleted the information from the company’s archives and sold the data to rival firms.
