Claims that high profile personalities escape punishment to be probed

Supreme Court prosecutor Efterpi Koutzamani ordered on Friday an investigation into comments made this week by Greece’s chief inspector for public administration in which he alleged that some high profile personalities enjoyed impunity.

Leandros Rakintzis claimed before Parliament’s ethics and transparency committee on Wednesday that prominent public figures accused of financial crimes received “special treatment” since legislative amendments or judicial rulings are often issued to get them off the hook.

Koutzamani for a probe examining whether judges or prosecutors had committed offenses related to the inspector’s allegations.
