IKA uncovers benefits scam at Kerameikos branch
Checks at an IKA branch in Kerameikos, central Athens, led to the discovery of an alleged scam targeting the social security organization and the country’s public healthcare provider, EOPYY, authorities announced over the weekend.
According to IKA officials, about 500 people were found to be allegedly benefiting from healthcare benefits through the use of forged documents.
The exact sum of the damage to the state resulting from the fraud was expected to be determined following a full-scale investigation by financial police, authorities said.
