Athanasiou denies Golden Dawn MPs getting better treatment in jail

Justice Minister Haralambos Athanasiou has denied that Golden Dawn MPs and members being held in pre-trial custody at the women’s wing of Korydallos Prison are receiving preferential treatment.

Responding to a question in Parliament, Athanasiou also said that the NeoNazi lawmakers are being served food by foreign inmates despite their insistence that they only receive their meals from the hands of Greeks.

“They are receiving no preferential treatment in comparison to other inmates,” Athanasiou told Democratic Left MP Maria Yiannakaki.

Female inmates at Korydallos had complained that a whole floor had been cleared to house just six Golden Dawn suspects, forcing prisoners to be crammed together on another floor.
