Halkidiki residents to give depositions over Ierissos barricades
Eight residents of northern Halkidiki have been called to give depositions in connection to an alleged attempt to impede police who were searching for people who took part in an arson attack on the premises of Hellas Gold near the village of Ierissos.
Barricades were set up on the roads leading in to Ierissos in April, when police sought to raid homes in the village to arrest people they suspected of taking part in the arson attack at the gold mine several months earlier.
More than 50 people, all members of groups opposing mining in the area, have been charged in connection to the attack at the mine. They deny the charges.
