No fines for ticketless jobless on Thessaloniki buses

Unemployed residents of Thessaloniki who are fined for not having a valid ticket on local buses will not have to pay the penalty, it was revealed on Tuesday.

The head of the Organization of Urban Transportation of Thessaloniki (OASTH), Christos Stefanidis, confirmed that jobless residents would be let off as long as they could prove that they are unemployed.

“This is a social policy measure that is already in place,” said Stefanidis after a meeting with representatives of opposition party SYRIZA.
