Ex-LAOS MP Plevris takes parliamentary seat left vacant by EU commissioner Avramopoulos
New Democracy politician Thanasis Plevris will take the place of outgoing Dimitris Avramopoulos in Parliament.
Avramopoulos gave up his seat on Monday as he left to take up the role of Home Affairs and Migration commissioner in Brussels.
Plevris, a former lawmaker with the ultra-nationalist Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS), was next on New Democracy’s candidate list. The conservatives have 127 of 300 MPs in Parliament.
