Blood donor registry about to launch, Health Ministry says
An online database of the country’s blood donors is due to be launched later this year, Health Ministry officials said Monday.
The so-called Blood Donor Registry, which will be ready to run in pilot mode by late November, will also keep a record of blood donation agencies operating around the country.
The new system is expected to improve the efficiency of blood collection, bolster safety procedures and increase the number of blood donors. The system is also expected to facilitate regular donors by issuing them with an identification number and keeping a record of their details.
