Athens metro ticket inspector slap claims denied

STASY, the company that manages fixed-track forms of public transport in Athens, on Wednesday rebuffed claims by a female commuter who said she was slapped by a ticket inspector at the central Omonia metro station when she refused pay a fine for fare dodging because she was unemployed and was unable to.

In its statement, STASY said that “all the procedures stipulated by law were followed,” noting that the woman was led to the police office at Omonia station where the fine was imposed.

Earlier in the day the woman told Mega TV that she was pushed by the STASY inspector and then slapped after saying she was unable to pay the fine for traveling without a ticket as she was unemployed.
