Architect hospitalized after hoe attack in central Athens

A 66-year-old architect was being treated for serious injuries in the capital’s G. Gennimata hospital on Wednesday after being attacked by an assailant wielding a hoe in the central neighborhood of Exarchia on Tuesday afternoon.

Passers-by who found the man lying on the street close to the apartment block where his office is located said his head was bleeding and that he was conscious but had appeared to have suffered memory loss.

Police investigators said it was unclear whether the architect was attacked by would-be robbers or over a personal dispute.
