SDOE detects fresh cases of tax evasion

The financial crimes squad, SDOE, has discovered a number of tax evasion cases following inspections carried out across the country during the August-September period.

Among the cases discovered by the department is that of a doctor operating in the upscale Athens neighborhood of Kolonaki who allegedly failed to issue receipts exceeding the sum of 6 million euros. Another case involved an artist couple who allegedly failed to declare some 4 million euros used for the acquisition of a residence in the area of Voula, southern Athens.

According to figures released by SDOE, another case involved professors at the University of Thessaloniki and the city’s technical colleges who had allegedly omitted to declare taxable income worth about one million euros.
