Two Rhodes men charged with murder of own grandmother

Two half-brothers, aged 26 and 29, have been charged with murdering their 69-year-old grandmother and stealing a television from her home on the Dodecanese island of Rhodes.

According to sources, each of the suspects has blamed the other for the fatal beating on Tuesday night.

Police found the woman dead in her home in the area of Asgouros, close to the town of Rhodes, where a window was found to have been smashed.

A detailed examination of the premises revealed the absence of a television which was later found to have been sold to two locals, aged 21 and 23.

Sources indicated that the two men had frequently pressed their grandmother to give them money, and argued when she refused.
