Inspectors conduct tests after 4.8 Richter quake in Aigio

Public safety inspectors were carrying out tests on buildings in Aigio in the northern Peloponnese on Saturday after a 4.8 Richter earthquake rocked the area on Friday evening.

Initial checks found that 11 buildings suffered damage as a result of the tremor, whose epicenter was in the Gulf of Corinth.

Two factories were also damaged.

None of the damage recorded is believed to be structural and nobody was injured during the quake.

Local Mayor Thanassis Panagopoulos said that more than 100 people rang the municipality to ask for inspections to be carried out on their homes.
