Eastern Crete hit by 4.1 Richter earthquake

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit an area east of Lasithi on Crete early on Monday, the Athens Geodynamic Institute reported later in the day.

That followed a 5-magnitude tremor on Cephalonia early on Sunday after the Ionian island had been rocked by a 4.7 quake on Friday.

Meanwhile, the town of Aigio in the Peloponnese, which was also struck by a tremor on Friday, measuring 4.8 Richter, is expected to be declared an quake-hit zone, Stratos Simopoulos, general secretary of public works at the Infrastructure Ministry, announced on Monday.
