Gov’t handed list of 19 reforms demanded by troika
Troika envoys have sent Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis (photo) a list of 19 tough reforms they want authorities to carry out for their latest review to be completed in time for a Eurogroup summit due on December 8, Kathimerini understands. The list was addressed to the finance minister last Friday.
Demands include covering a fiscal gap for 2015 that the troika puts at 2.6 billion euros, reducing the number of installments in which debtors can honor their dues, pushing through a second phase of pension reform and completing an overhaul of the tax administration system.
The troika is also seeking the government’s proposal for an across-the-board wage structure for public sector employees, plans for the restructuring of Greek public utility companies and legislation in view of the liberalization of the natural gas market.
Despite the challenges facing the coalition administration, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos agreed on Monday that the government should keep its focus on the completion of a round of negotiations with the country’s creditors and secure a deal for a “post-memorandum” era next year.
