New Democracy staff give protest warning over unpaid salaries

About 200 staff at New Democracy party have not received wages for three-and-a-half months, Kathimerini understands.

After a meeting with staff representatives on Tuesday, the general manager of Greece’s conservatives, Costas Tsimaras, said that the party would pay part of the outstanding wages to its staff by the end of this week. He said party employees would receive the rest of the money by the end of the year.

Employees on Tuesday warned of protest action if the ruling party fails to meet its financial obligations.

Other parties in Greece are facing similar problems as a result of dwindling state funding and outstanding debts.
