Thessaloniki mayor (half) undresses for AIDS campaign

Yiannis Boutaris, Thessaloniki’s outspoken mayor, has posed half-naked for a photo shoot in the context of an AIDS awareness campaign.

The pictures of Boutaris and another 31 public figures are to be published on Sunday in Adore magazine, which is published with the city’s Makedonia newspaper.

In an interview with the magazine, Boutaris said would like to see more people come to the city for the annual Gay Pride parade.

“If we could attract 50,000 gay people to Thessaloniki from all over the Balkans, the Middle East and anywhere else to manifest their cause, that would be great news for the city,” he said, adding that the city’s annual event currently attracts between 2,000and 3,000 visitors.
