Five metro stations to close in central Athens for Polytechnic anniversary march

Panepistiomio metro station in central Athens will be closed from noon, while four more stations will close at 2 p.m., ahead of the traditional march to the US Embassy for the anniversary of the 1973 student uprising against the junta at Athens Polytechnic.

The police has ordered transport authorities to close Syntagma, Evangelismos, Megaro Mousikis and Ambelokipi stations at 2 p.m., an hour before the march is due to leave from Klafthmonos Square in the city center.

The stations will reopen when the all clear is given by the police.
