Ex-mayor hid 3.4 mln from tax authorities, inspectors find
The former mayor of a municipality within Attica hid 3.4 million euros from tax authorities, the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) has discovered.
A total of 3.42 million euros was paid into the ex-mayor’s account between 2004 and 2009. He was just one of more than a dozen cases of financial wrongdoing uncovered by SDOE as part of investigations carried out during October.
Among the other cases uncovered are five companies that dodged more than 5 million euros in value-added tax and a cardiologist who did not declare 1.4 million euros in income.
