Migrants intercepted off Lesvos, up to four feared drowned

Around 15 undocumented immigrants were rescued and at least four more were reported missing and feared drowned after their dinghy capsized off the coast of Plomari, on the island of Lesvos in the eastern Aegean, on Saturday.

Initial reports did not point to the number of people aboard the boat, but suggested that most of them were Syrian nationals, including a 14-year-old girl.

Among the migrants rescued and taken to a local health facility for observation was a 36-year-old man from Uzbekistan, who was subsequently detained over charges of human trafficking.
