Five arrests for baby trafficking in Kozani
Five people – three Greeks and two Bulgarians – have been arrested in Kozani, northern Greece, for baby trafficking.
The arrests came after authorities’ suspicions were raised when a 23-year-old Bulgarian woman checked into a local hospital to give birth.
According to police, the woman was intending to sell her baby to a Greek couple, who were also arrested. The man’s 56-year-old mother was also taken into custody.
Finally, police arrested a 31-year-old Bulgarian man who is alleged to have set up the deal for the illegal adoption.
