Cancer researcher, Harvard professor Trichopoulos dies at 76

Dimitris Trichopoulos, a leading cancer researcher, has died at the age of 76 in an Athens hospital.

Trichopoulos died early on Monday several days after suffering heart problems and being admitted to Evangelismos Hospital.

Trichopoulos, who was born in Volos in 1938, was the Vincent L. Gregory Professor of Cancer Prevention at the Department of Epidemiology at Harvard’s School of Public Health. He also taught at Athens University.

Health Minister Makis Voridis described him as a “unique person and researcher.”
