Athens Technical College president accuses students of assault

The president of Athens Technical College (TEI), Michalis Bratakos, on Thursday said that he was assaulted by a group of students who entered his office by force.

Bratakos said the students were protesting in support of jailed anarchist Nikos Romanos who is on hunger strike in demand that he be granted a furlough to attend college courses.

The president of the institution said he was signing graduation certificates when the students forced their way into his office and began shouting at him to vacate the premises.

Bratakos claims that when he refused their demand they exercised physical force against him and threw the certificates he was working on onto the floor of an adjacent room.
