Independent Greeks leader testifies over MP bribery accusations
Independent Greeks leader Panos Kammenos gave evidence on Thursday before prosecutor Panayiotis Panayiotopoulos regarding the party’s latest accusations regarding bribery of MPs.
“The justice system must be allowed, without interference, to complete its investigation,” he said after leaving the prosecutor’s office.
The party alleged last week that there had been an attempt to bribe one of its MPs, Stavroula Xoulidou, to vote for the government’s presidential candidate.
Xoulidou gave her deposition last week, in which she claimed that a man with alleged links to New Democracy had suggested she could earn up to 3 million euros by voting for the president.
New Democracy denies the man is a member of the party.
