Mitsotakis issues guidelines for checks on civil servants’ degrees
Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis issues a circular on Monday that sets out the guidelines that need to be followed for checking the qualifications of anyone joining or leaving the civil service.
Under new requirements, applicants’ degrees and certificates will be thoroughly checked before they are hired. They will also be inspected whenever public sector workers leave their jobs by the end of this year.
Authorities are currently rechecking the qualifications of civil servants amid evidence that some employees lied about their degrees.
