Signs in place on deadly pileup stretch, company says
Nea Odos, the company responsible for managing the stretch of the Athens-Lamia highway where a fatal pileup occurred on Friday evening, has insisted that roadworks taking place in the area were properly signposted.
The company said that it was working with authorities investigating the causes of the crash in which 32 vehicles were involved. However, Nea Odos added that the works at Schimatari, north of Athens, were clearly marked over the course of two kilometers.
One woman, aged 28, died in the crash and eight people were injured, two of them seriously. A 29-year-old man was reported to be in critical conditions after the accident.
