Romanos discharged from hospital

One week after he ended a hunger strike, Greek anarchist and convicted robber Nikos Romanos has been discharged from hospital.

The 21-year-old has been transported from Giorgos Gennimatas general hospital in northern Athens to Korydallos maximum security prison.

Romanos went on a month-long hunger strike in November after authorities refused to grand him an educational leave to attend classes at a Greek technical college (TEI). His strike sparked protests in Athens and other Greek cities.

Romanos ended his strike after an amendment was passed in Parliament allowing him to attend classes while wearing a monitoring bracelet.
