Family rescued from burning building in southern Athens
A family was rescued from a burning building in the southern Athenian suburb of Tavros in the early hours of Friday after a blaze broke out in an empty apartment above their own.
The fire started on the second flood and spread upward, sending large amounts of smoke throughout the building.
The couple and their 5-year-old daughter were the building’s only tenants.
The fire service is investigating the cause of the blaze, which was put out by 18 firefighters operating six fire engines.
