‘Anarchist Attack Consortium’ claims responsibility for failed bank bomb

A group calling itself “Anarchist Attack Consortium” has claimed responsibility for a failed bombing attack against a bank in the early hours of December 10 in the northern Athenian suburb of Halandri.

In a posting on anarchist website Indymedia, the group said it was acting in solidarity with jailed bank robber and self-proclaimed anarchist Nikos Romanos who had gone on a month-long hunger strike in demand of educational leave.

The group said that the bomb they planted outside the Halandri branch of Eurobank failed to go off because of a construction glitch.

An anonymous caller had tipped off the authorities to the planned attack.
