‘Je suis Charlie’ solidarity gathering organized in Athens

A gathering has been organized on Thursday afternoon at the French Institute in Athens to express solidarity with the people of France and condemn a deadly attack on the offices of the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine in Paris on Wednesday.

Thousands of people around the world have held gatherings and candle-light vigils under the slogan ‘Je suis Charlie’ (I am Charlie) after three gunmen shot dead 12 people and injured 11 – four seriously – at the central Paris offices of the magazine in what is being treated as an attack by Islamic fundamentalists.

The Athens gathering will begin at 5 p.m. at the French Institute, located at 31 Sina Street in Kolonaki.
