Venizelos accuses Samaras of taking part in ‘immoral act’ over MP’s transfer to ND
Deputy Prime Minister and PASOK chief Evangelos Venizelos expressed his disappointment with his coalition partner, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, on Thursday following an announcement that socialist Deputy Culture Minister Angela Gerekou will running on the conservative ticket at the upcoming elections of January 25.
“Dear Antonis, I never expected New Democracy to be part in such an immoral and crude political initiative as that of Mrs Gerekou from Corfu,” Venizelos said in a letter addressed to Samaras a few hours after the former actress and PASOK cadre, who has represented the socialists in the Ionian island of Corfu since 2004, announced she would be running with New Democracy.
“It is a shame,” Venizelos concluded.
