Iraklio floods cause ‘several hundred thousand euros’ of damage
Officials in Iraklio on Crete were counting the cost on Wednesday of the damage wrought by heavy rain a day earlier.
The flooding caused mud to seep into Iraklio’s biological wastewater treatment plant, knocking it out of operation for the next few days.
Iraklio Mayor Vassilis Lambrinos estimated that several hundred thousand euros of damage had been done.
Dozens of local businesses were also affected by the flooding.
