Bodies of Greeks who died in Norman Atlantic returned home

A C27J military transport aircraft took of from Italy’s Bari airport shortly before 3.30 p.m. on Friday, bearing the bodies of three Greek nationals who died in the Norman Atlantic ferry disaster last month.

The cost of the transport operation was expected to be covered in its entirety by the Defense Ministry.

On Thursday, the Italian prosecutor investigating a deadly fire on the Norman Atlantic ferry indicated that 27 people probably died in the disaster. Sixteen of the ferry’s passengers remain unaccounted while 11 bodies have been recovered.
