New group claims responsibility for Exarchia arson attack
A group calling itself “Anarchist Commando Nestor Makhno” has claimed responsibility for torching a vehicle in the central Athens district of Exarchia.
Greek anti-terror squad members found the four-page proclamation inside an envelope that was left on a parked vehicle outside the offices of Naftemporiki daily in central Athens after an unidentified caller alerted the newspaper at around 2.45 p.m. on Monday.
The envelope carried the name of Christos Patoucheas, a former special forces police officer who was arrested last week as an accomplice of convicted November 17 terrorist Christodoulos Xeros.
Nestor Ivanovych Makhno was an Ukrainian revolutionary who led an independent anarchist army during the 1917-22 Russian Civil War.
