Golden Dawn candidate and member arrested with illegal weapons
A 52-year-old candidate running on the Golden Dawn ticket in the January 25 polls and a 22-year-old member of the far-right party faced illegal weapons charges on Monday after a police patrol found an unlicensed hunting rifle, a retractable baton and a can of pepper spray in the car they were traveling in.
Police searched the vehicle after receiving a complaint that two men were seen driving around in the suburb of Kamatero, northwest of Athens, and pulling down campaign posters for rival parties.
Two posters, one for the Greek Communist Party (KKE) and another for the radical left ANTARSYA, were also found in the car.
