Algerian terror suspect faces prosecutor

A 33-year-old Algerian national arrested in connection with a deadly raid on a suspected Islamist cell in Belgium last week is set to appear before a prosecutor Tuesday at noon.

Belgian authorities have requested his extradition on terrorism charges.

Greek and Belgian authorities have said the man is not the suspected mastermind that communicated with cell members from a mobile phone in Greece.

According to sources, the 33-year-old has been living in Greece since 2011 when he lodged an appeal for political asylum. In 2012, he was arrested on theft charges before being released last year.
