Independent Greeks’ Kammenos eyes coalition with ideological rival
Independent Greeks leader Panos Kammenos is “absolutely ready” to govern with SYRIZA if the leftist party wins Sunday’s elections, he said during a news conference on Wednesday.
Kammenos even went as far as to suggest which ministries his party would like to staff if it is part of a coalition. He indicated these would include the Defense Ministry and the Education and Religious Affairs Ministry.
“We may not be ideologically close to SYRIZA but we are not asking them to change positions,” he said. “We are asking that they respect what we are saying and we will respect their positions.”
The Independent Greeks leader did however say that his party would not enter a coalition including PASOK, Potami or George Papandreou’s Movement of Democratic Socialists.
