Terror suspect granted extension to testify

A 23-year-old alleged to be an accomplice of convicted November 17 terrorist Christodoulos Xeros [photo] has been given an extension to prepare his testimony.

The suspect, who was arrested Wednesday in the southern Athenian suburb of Glyfada, will testify on Tuesday. He faces charges of theft and of belonging to a terrorist organization.

The 23-year-old, whose name has not been made public, is believed to have stolen the white van that was found earlier this month in Aegaleo, west of Athens. Police suspect Xeros was planning to use the van in an attack against Korydallos Prison. Plans for the jailbreak were found in one of his safe-houses.
