Crete hit by 6 Richter tremor

An undersea quake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck off the southern coast of the island of Crete shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday but there were no reports of damage or injuries.

According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the quake’s epicenter was located 10 kilometers below the seabed 79 kilometers southeast of Tympaki, a coastal town in the regional unit of Iraklio.

The quake was felt across the island and the Libyan Sea, according to local reports.
