No problems with pensions, says Stratoulis

Alternate Minister for Social Security Dimitris Stratoulis reassured Greek pensioners on Thursday that payments were not facing any kind danger. Speaking on Antenna TV he noted that pensions were guaranteed until “the very last cent.”

His comments came in the wake of remarks made earlier on the same day by newly-appointed secretary general for social security, Giorgos Romanias.

Speaking on Mega channel on Thursday morning, Romanias had expressed his concern regarding cash flow for March pensions, saying that things would get “a little tight” around that time, although he appeared optimistic that a solution would be found if necessary.

Later in the day, Romanias retracted his earlier comments. Speaking on Skai TV he declared there was not a “one in a million chance” for pensions not to be paid or lowered.
