Businessman arrested in bribery case
Police in the Ionian island of Corfu have arrested a 38-year-old businessman on charges of paying kickbacks and bribes to gain preferential treatment in bids for state contracts.
The suspect allegedly offered 15,000 euros to the chairman of a state organization in exchange for preferential treatment over competitors in a competition for a waste management contract.
The suspect, whose name has not been made public, was arrested following a complaint by the chairman. The 38-year-old will face a prosecutor.
